'i had the original stereo version where the vocals were on one side and the guitars on the other side. I turned the off the vocals and just jammed to the guitars.

Bleach without Number One is not Bleach

This is a wonderful, driving Guitar riff-based song that I've come to think needs the addition of a sustaining harmony instrument to clarify and reinforce the harmony/chords, which I think are magical but get easily dominated by the fast and characteristic Guitar and Bass patterns and a bit lost as a result. A Synth or Organ playing an octave higher than the Guitars and Vocals might be just the thing to help the chord structure become more evident. The chords are beautifully varied and unusual enough in places that without a stronger sustaining representation of them the Vocals can sound a bit bare/exposed and even out of tune at times against all the Guitar picking.
